I once was a drunk, a criminal, a liar, a thief. I was lost and broken and dangerous. Today, I am celebrating 2 years of sobriety. More importantly than that I know who I am, why I am here. I want to thank Portland Rescue Mission for your love, prayers and guidance on this journey.– Brian, graduate of The Harbor
Our Care Partners want to make a social impact on our community and are ready to build mutually beneficial campaigns to see life change happen. Here is how you can get involved:
Thousands of people across the Portland metropolitan area are in search of their next meal. Traumatized and struggling to survive, our neighbors find hot, nutritious meals at the downtown Burnside Shelter.
In Portland, 4,000 people don’t know where they are going to sleep tonight and another 11,000 are balancing on the edge of homelessness. At the Burnside Shelter anyone in need can find a warm, nutritious meal and a pathway to life transformation.
Portland Rescue Mission offers pathways off the street through transitional programs ranging from one week to six months. With separate floors for 26 women and 44 men, residents live in a supportive community while they receive resources and encouragement to find work and housing.
Portland Rescue Mission offers a 12-month residential recovery program called New Life. It is well known that addiction is an underlying issue that keeps individuals from stability and healthy relationships. In this program, participants dedicate every day of their life for a year to addiction recovery, learning life and job skills and finding life restoration within a supportive community. And it works. Eighty percent of those who graduated from New Life in the past four years are living addiction-free, healthy and stable lives today.
