I once was a drunk, a criminal, a liar, a thief. I was lost and broken and dangerous. Today, I am celebrating 2 years of sobriety. More importantly than that, I know who I am, and why I am here. I want to thank Portland Rescue Mission for your love, prayers, and guidance on this journey.
– Brian, a graduate of The Harbor

place in the country for providing emergency shelter and care
Cover the cost of every meal served to people struggling with hunger and homelessness on a day of your choice. A nutritious meal is the first step to a second chance and provides us an opportunity to get to know someone’s name and invite them into programs where they can receive the support and services needed for a safe transition off the street and into stability and self-sufficiency.
Portland Rescue Mission serves up to 900 meals each day, 365 days a year - your business will “Own The Day” when you sponsor the cost of one full day of meals for $1,881.
No one should have to spend a night cold, alone, and vulnerable. Every night at the Burnside Shelter, up to 144 people receive a clean bed, showers, a nutritious meal, clean clothes, hygiene kits, and an invitation to meet with a staff member and take the next step in the journey toward stability. This number can increase to 169 people in severe weather conditions.
Your business will not only provide all 900 meals served that day, but in addition to “Own The Day,” you will also “Own The Night” when you sponsor the cost of one night of shelter and life-restoring resources for $3,766.
Men who come to us for meals and shelter are invited into our 3–6-month transitional program called 'Connect'. This program is designed to help people move immediately off the street and into a private bunk at the Burnside shelter where we provide resources for finding a job and permanent housing. Additionally, through support groups, advocates, and classes, we work to remove barriers that threaten stability down the road.
Annually, about 200 people are served through this program and approximately 60% achieve stable housing and employment within a few months. When your business sponsors one day in the Connect program, you enable up to 40 men the opportunity to restart their life for $4,931.
New Life's 12-month residential recovery program and subsequent transitional housing are designed to treat the root issues of homelessness and addiction. New Life participants dedicate a year of their life to addiction recovery, healing from trauma, building life skills and professional development, in a supportive community.
About 80% of New Life graduates from the last six years remain sober and in stable housing today. When your business sponsors one day in the New Life program, you are helping up to 119 men, women, and children get the support and training they need to transform their lives. A generous gift of $7,300 will sponsor one day in this life-restoring program.
